Heart2Heart

Did you know that breast cancer and cervical cancer are the two of the most prevalent cancers in Cambodia today? Heart2Heart matches donors with indigent women to provide them with life-saving exams.

Our story begins with the power of SHE

As participants in several medical missions to Cambodia, we have seen heartbreaking cases of advanced breast cancer, cervical cancer, and uterine prolapse, among other women's health problems. Sadly, by the time many women reach a mission clinic for a checkup, it is too late; too often, women have been sent home with pain medication, knowing that they will die soon. Poverty, lack of access to health care, and lack of awareness of preventive measures and treatment options are all obstacles to early diagnosis and treatment.

Welcome to Heart2Heart, SHE's women's health initiative

In 2017, we launched the Heart2Heart Women's Health Initiative, one of the first of its kind in Cambodia. Each year we work to set up on-site staff, resources, and an active, on-going program, where women who are disadvantaged economically or socially or isolated geographically, can have access to a well-woman exam. We have named it Heart2Heart because we are forging caring connections between a donor and recipient(s) to ensure that no woman gets left behind.

Together with your help, we will provide funding to support the following life-saving items for each woman:

  • health education classes targeting prevention and early detection

  • a well-woman’s exam, including a mammogram or breast ultrasound, a pelvic exam with PAP, and interpretation of results

  • further clinic visits as needed, with transportation

  • funding assistance for further needed treatments

Heart2Heart provides the following:
